$1.5 million gift brings Neurology specialist to Indiana

When young Kennedy Hoffman was diagnosed with a rare inflammatory disease, she needed to seek treatment out of state. Her family wanted to spare others that experience, so they gave $1.5 million to bring specialized talent to Indiana.

“We face a national shortage of neuro-ophthalmologists, and this shortage impacts access to care in Indiana,” says Melissa W. Ko, MD, IU Health neuro-ophthalmologist. The family’s gift recruits, trains and supports the highly specialized physicians who work with the complexities of neuro-ophthalmology and neuroimmunology.
