Funding Priorities

Your support for the All the Difference Campaign can address health challenges that affect Hoosiers statewide, or the priority needs identified in your local community. Philanthropic dollars provide the margin of excellence that will make Indiana healthier, including access to IU Health’s world-class care, or assistance with social determinants of health such as healthy food, financial security, equitable care for all, safe housing and help to overcome behavioral health challenges. You choose where and how your contribution will have the most impact.

Statewide Funding Priorities

Community Funding Priorities

Central Indiana

Anchoring the entire IU Health system, the new downtown Indianapolis hospital campus will provide a home for the robust partnership between IU Health, the state’s only academic health system, and the IU School of Medicine, the nation’s largest medical school. Here, these two great institutions will combine their strengths in an exceptional “center of gravity” for academic medicine.

As one of the most comprehensive academic healthcare systems in the U.S., IU Health is globally recognized as a leader in multiple specialties and clinical innovation. It provides the highest level of personalized care. Donor support strengthens opportunities to enhance cancer care, cardiovascular care, community health, gastroenterology, neurosciences, transplant services and trauma.

Also in central Indiana, IU Health is investing in programs and clinical site expansion to provide essential care close to home. An outstanding example is the Fishers Community Impact Project. As the populations of Fishers and the surrounding communities increase, the need for access to healthcare does as well. IU Health is meeting the need by expanding services in areas including obstetrics and gynecology; ear, nose and throat; nephrology; neurology; and pulmonology, while expanding existing specialty programs such as cardiovascular care, general medicine, orthopedics and primary care.

Long-term planning is underway for the Indy Health District: Community-informed initiatives, programs and places focused on improving health outcomes for people who live, work, learn and play near the new downtown Indianapolis hospital. It will serve as a pilot project for similar districts statewide.

East Central Indiana

In east central Indiana, residents in Muncie and surrounding communities have some of the state’s highest rates of behavioral health issues, including substance use disorder.

IU Health is investing in the Muncie Crisis Center to provide a safe, 24/7, low-barrier environment where people experiencing a mental health crisis, substance abuse, intimate partner violence or homelessness can voluntarily receive assessment, intervention, peer support and connection to vital services.

IU Health fills a gap in primary care for residents on the southwest side of Fort Wayne. The health system will expand primary and ambulatory care services to the economically challenged and medically underserved area of the city. To support the city’s growing Burmese population, IU Health employs physicians who speak their language.

Southern Indiana

The IU Health Bloomington Hospital, which opened in 2021, provides care to nearly a half-million residents in its service area, bringing formerly scattered offices under one roof and offering care closer to home for many area residents. The state-of-the-art hospital is attached to Indiana University’s cutting-edge medical education and training complex as well, providing space for collaboration and coordination of care and teaching.

Further south, investments in IU Health Bedford Hospital ensure that more Southern Indiana residents have easier access to care, especially important when minutes matter. Philanthropic needs in this part of the state include workforce development and behavioral health services that reach far beyond clinical walls and deep into 11 counties.

West Central Indiana

At the IU Health West Central Region Career Center, the Pathways into Healthcare program trains entry-level team members—such as those who work in food preparation—to become certified medical assistants and echocardiograph technicians. While completing the program, employees receive pay and benefits while spending half of their time training for their new profession.

Providing pathways for team members to progress further into healthcare careers is just one way donors can make all the difference in the west central area of Indiana.
