

Cradle Indianapolis: A Marion County model for reducing infant mortality
Indiana has the 11th-highest infant mortality rate in the U.S. The problem is especially dire in Marion County, which has six of the 14 ZIP codes in Indiana with the highest infant mortality rates. And it’s even worse for Black babies, who die at twice the state’s overall rate. Cradle Indianapolis, a place-based community initiative founded in 2022 with support from IU Health Foundation’s Racial Equity in Healthcare Fund, is gearing up to flip the script.
