Fresh & Fit to the Max: Program Boosts Key Health Indicators

IU Health Fresh & Fit Program doesn’t just claim to improve health; it backs up those claims with data. For example, by providing fitness, nutrition and support for 10 weeks, the program lowered the average participant’s weight by 14 pounds and saw improved cholesterol among 60% of participants. Despite such metrics, one area woman who had struggled with fitness challenges in the past enrolled in the program as a skeptic. Now she’s a vocal advocate. “I set out to prove Fresh & Fit wrong,” said Ann Eich. “Now I try and inspire others to do the same thing that I did.” With philanthropic dollars, organizers say, a lot more Central Indiana residents could enjoy results like Eich’s.
