From Swiftie dreams to real-world healing: How a sweepstakes sparked change for Women’s Health
A Taylor Swift ticket sweepstakes created a lot of impact — advancing care for women across Indiana in ways that are intimate, innovative and life-changing.
Thanks to funds raised through the IU Health Foundation’s sweepstakes for tickets to her Indianapolis concert last year, pelvic floor therapy teams at 14 IU Health locations gained access to new, higher-quality upgrades:
- New diagnostic ultrasound and biofeedback units now help therapists assess and treat conditions like incontinence, postpartum complications and chronic pain.
- Trauma-informed upgrades—like replacing harsh fluorescent lights with soft lamps in exam rooms — increase comfort for patients, 75% of whom report a history of sexual trauma.
- And with continued education support, therapists are staying at the forefront of best practices to treat every demographic at every stage of life.
As Dr. Rachel Noyes Finley, PT, DPT said,
“Biofeedback and ultrasound are invaluable in guiding patients to make those mind-body connections and maximize their care.”
Or as one patient shared, “Every session I think about how I was never told about pelvic floor recovery after having babies… I wish I’d started years ago.”
