Power in proximity: Cancer patient says care close to home aided healing
When Stacey Goffinet was told she had breast cancer (and then infections, and then COVID), the Bloomington resident found her fight was eased by the fact that she could get top-notch comprehensive care close to home. “I had 157 appointments last year,” she said. “Can you imagine if those were all up in Indianapolis?” A key factor in that hometown care was a gift by IU Health Foundation donors Jefferson and Mary Shreve, whose gift to IU Health Bloomington helped to integrate cancer care into one location.
