The Sounds of Literacy: A Musical Garden Nurtures Learning
A “garden” with nine instruments shaped like plants and animals is helping east-central Indiana children learn music, reading and creativity. Funded by philanthropy, the Hartford City Public Library created the garden to help kids learn to focus and memorize certain sounds — just like when they are learning to sound out syllables in words.
